The GivMohr Sling was developed in a collaborative effort between Victoria Givler, OT and Paul Mohr, PT in response to the lack of effective arm support devices for clients with neurological diagnoses presenting with a flaccid arm. SIZING GUIDE: Height 5’3″-5’10“, Weight 135-185 lb If Height and Weight ranges yield different results, look at where the patient carries their weight to assist in determining the proper size sling to use. If the weight is carried higher on the body (chest/shoulders), give priority to the „Weight Range“ result. If the weight is carried lower on the body (stomach/hips), give priority to the „Height Range“ result. TO INSURE PROPER FITTING OF THE GIVMOHR SLING, initial fitting should be done by a Physical or Occupational Therapist (PT or OT). Once fitted by a therapist with 4-Tab Buckle secured, no further adjustment should be needed. PROPER FIT CHECKLIST: After donning, check the following in standing: Shoulder subluxation is reduced, Shoulder in neutral rotation, 4-Tab optimally positioned and locked, Axillary pad in a comfortable position, Elbow in less than 30 degrees of flexion, Elbow strap positioned 1″ below elbow and horizontal, Wrist cross centered over wrist, Hand piece position accommodates contour of hand, Blue Stripe against body. Donning Instructions: Once fitted by therapist with 4-Tab Buckle secured, no further adjustment should be needed. Place uninvolved arm through the shoulder loop Lay sling across back and drape anterior strap over involved shoulder with blue stripe against arm and „GivMohr“ side of 4-Tab facing out Check 4-Tab Position and adjust if necessary Position hand into Handpiece first by bending the elbow Place elbow in sling and check that the Elbow Strap is 1″ below elbow and horizontal Check Strap Positions and adjust at buckles to reduce subluxation if necessary Check Axillary (Arm Pit) Pad position and adjust for comfort if necessary When taking the sling off, remove the sling from the elbow first, then bend the elbow and remove the hand piece – it is not necessary to detach the elbow strap. With training and practice, most users are able to put the sling on and take it off independently. Washing and Care Instructions Hand Wash in cold water Air dry To avoid damaging the sling, do not machine wash or dry. X-Large: Height over 6’4″, Weight over 235 lb. NOTES: GivMohr Sling (1 arm) supports EITHER right or left arm.
